The response to The Wingfeather Saga TV series has been exciting! It's clear from messages we've received, social media comments, and our first crowdfunding round (investment commitments were met in less than three full weeks) that there is overwhelming demand for an animated fantasy series the whole family can enjoy together.
Additionally, the world of producing animation requires that we look deeper into the future to ensure the show is completed on schedule. With Season 1 due early 2023, we want to ensure we have the necessary funds to produce and deliver Season 2 on a schedule that doesn't leave fans waiting years.
Finally, since our first funding round ended, we regularly hear from people who missed out inquiring if there will be future opportunities to invest. For all these reasons, we want to take advantage of the opportunity for fans of the series to pledge interest in a potential second funding round.
In a fantasy world of wonder and danger, one boy discovers a family secret that may awaken an ancient power or doom them to capture by a nameless evil…
For too long, there’s been virtually no TV series for both parents and kids to enjoy together. Most adult shows are too explicit for younger children, and most kids shows make parents and siblings run away screaming.
But in 2008, Andrew Peterson published a beloved children’s fantasy series meant to be engaging and inspiring to all ages. Over 350,000 copies and 6,000 five-star reviews later, it has become a hit, enjoyed by families all around the world. And now The Wingfeather Saga Animated Series will bring Peterson’s imaginative books to life in a stunning new handcrafted CGI animation.
The Wingfeather Saga features whimsical world building, epic stakes, and redemptive storylines, all with a ticklish sense of humor.
Full of characters rich in heart, smarts, and courage, this is a tale children of all ages will cherish. Families will appreciate how many-layered themes reinforce the strength of togetherness, identity, faith, and courage.
If you love the wit of The Princess Bride, the epic world of The Lord of the Rings, and the deep magic in the Narnia series, you’ll love The Wingfeather Saga.
The Wingfeather Saga chronicles the adventures and transformations of the Igiby family as they discover secrets of their family history, flee the evil Fangs of Dang, seek their place in the world, and make a stand against the mysterious ruler, Gnag the Nameless.
They will need their special gifts and all the love of their noble mother and ex-pirate grandfather to survive the venomous Fangs of Dang, sea dragons, flabbits, and (gulp) toothy cows!

The Characters:
The Wingfeather Saga is a deeply redemptive fantasy rooted in values that kids need but can’t find easily in entertainment. Research shows that “the influence of the media on the psychosocial development of children is profound. Particularly those passive and subversive framing.
It’s important to take an active role in selecting content that will help kids become incredible adults. This series delivers on that promise by weaving those themes into the story world itself.
• Magic can be experienced, not conjured.
• Family is foundation, not confrontation.
• Identity matters.
• Diversity is dignity.
• Love is sacrifice.
• Imagination is boundless.
• Good conquers evil.

*Art Director*The Wingfeather Saga team has developed an innovative blend between CGI and hand-drawn artistry to bring the unique character of the series to life. We wanted to echo the story experience in a visual way, which meant finding new ways to make traditional CGI feel more organic. The result invites the audience to engage their imagination in a more abstract visual space that extends beyond the edges of the frame.
Our goal is to turn The Wingfeather Saga into a multi-season animated series that the whole family can look forward to enjoying episode after episode.
Here’s what viewers are saying about the pilot short film:
“The animation is original and beautiful; I like how you're taking a new look on the traditional CGI all the big companies insist upon, and the music is breath-taking.”
“The animation style is so unique, the voice acting is on point, and it follows the events in the book perfectly!”
“Awesome work and an encaptivating storyline…..I feel that I want to explore much more of this world and the characters within it, I certainly want more, I'd love to see this as a feature length movie, I guess I'll just have to read the books for now!!”
“I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS REAL!? I GREW UP ON THESE BOOKS! I spent my teenage years hooked on this series, hours lost in its world.”
The imaginative story of The Wingfeather Saga inspires the visuals to be equally compelling and engaging. The hand-crafted painterly style undergirds the themes within the story where beauty and artistry have great significance in the world. Typical “modeling clay on a partly cloudy day” CGI is a glut in the industry and we’re determined to bring something fresh to the screen with our proprietary “paint-motion” animation technology.
CGI action-adventure animation takes skill and artistry to make it compelling. Competitive TV series animation typically costs $600k to $1mil per episode and come with lots of industry strings attached! And the results are often empty calorie stories that don’t have any meaning. We’ve been able to recruit top-level talent to the series, because of the unique combination of epic and meaningful story with innovative and visually compelling animation.
There are thousands of Wingfeather Saga fans out there, and millions more future Wingfeather fans waiting to discover the story’s amazing characters, rich world, and deep magic. We are creating the show for those people, a show that has an incredible story with important values in the driver’s seat. That way the whole family can watch it and talk about it together.
By partnering with Angel Studios, showrunners of The Wingfeather Saga won’t have to compromise this view or surrender creative control to industry trends. The message of the program will drive its viewership.

That means if the show succeeds in earning enough revenue, you will earn a share of the profits. And the profits on successful content can be huge.* The top 10 highest grossing franchises of all time have been made for kids.
